Military: Welcome Home, John!

This was my first ever submarine military homecoming and it was so much fun! We walked out to the water in Point Loma and waited beachside to watch the submarine float by us. Many of the sailors were standing on top of the sub and the captain was waving to us from the tower.

I first photographed this family last year at the beach in La Jolla right before their dad left for deployment. So it was an extra special moment to be here to witness his homecoming. As a military spouse I know how long and hard deployments can be for everyone. For security reasons I did not include any of the actual welcome home embrace - but trust me it was adorable -especially between daughter and dad!!

After everyone got to say hi and got their hugs and kisses we took some portraits in front of the ship’s Welcome Home sign! Rumor is this could be his last deployment and I am crossing my fingers for this family that their dad won’t have to go back to sea! Stay tuned as I am also photographing his Change of Command later this month :)
