Military: USS Annapolis Change of Command

If you aren’t familiar with the military world, a change of command is a military tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for a unit from one commanding officer to another. As an aviation spouse I have photographed a lot of jet and helicopter change of commands but have never been asked to photograph a submarine’s change of command! So needless to say this was such an exciting event for me to be a part of.

I first met this family when they hired me to photograph their family on the beach in La Jolla last fall. Then I photographed their dad’s homecoming this spring. Now I got to photograph his change of command. I am honestly speechless on how blessed I feel to be a part of so many huge moments in this family’s life. I LOVE that they LOVE capturing all the big moments! Here’s to their next big adventures. If only I wasn’t moving to WA state and could continue to be a part of all their important events!
