Portrait: Mallory Lane

I loved spending the afternoon with Mallory Lane doing what we both love most - taking photos! We explored the butterfly conservatory in Key West and took updated portraits of each other for all our social media. This is the first time in my twelve year career that I got portraits taken of me for my photography website so it was super exciting. I also love Mallory Lane’s photos (if you haven’t hired her yet - get on it!) and we have a lot in common, so the conversations were fun and easy. It can be super difficult to move around as a military spouse and “restart” your photography career. It can also be super intimidating moving to a city that already has tons of photographers as you now become their “competition.” Believe it or not, it can be pretty hard to find other photographers who are welcoming or helpful in a new place - so that is why I really try to make an effort to get to know the other photographers when I move to a new location. I even had coffee dates with a few photographers when I moved to Japan. I think it is so important that we all get to know each other, teach each other tricks, and just be friends! I am so happy that Mallory has been open to being my friend down here in Key West!
